Sally and Dave

This couple has just the sweetest story ever!! They kind of sort of met in high school.  Didn't keep in touch, moved around, had kids, and just lived life.  They reconnected via a Facebook group for their old high school friends.  They started talking on the phone and low and behold they fell in love!!!! At this time Sally was living in Arizona and Dave was near their home town in Michigan.  They quickly decided this wouldn't do.  So Sally picked herself up and moved back to Michigan to be with Dave!  During their vows they talked about their journey to finding one another.  It was so beautiful I teared up!!!  Sally and Dave, congratulations and I wish you a LIFETIME of joy and hapiness!!!!

Shane and Ashly

This wedding was just NON STOP party!!  Shane and Ashly had been through so many years, and so many miles, to make it to their wedding day.  So once their special day FINALLY arrived, they were ready to let loose and CELEBRATE!!! I loved watching everyone just enjoy the day and join in support of this amazing couple!  From the beginning of the day getting ready in their downtown hotel, to their first look at Rio Salado, to their amazing ceremony and reception at Legend City Studios, they were surrounded by love and joy the entire day!  I hope you have as much fun looking through the photos of this LEGENDary (get it...Legend City Studios.......legendary.....lol) wedding as I had taking them. Special thanks to Skyla Brooke for planning and coordinating! And Lumiere Photography for having me join!

Pierce Family

One of the best parts about being a photographer is watching families grow and change over the years.  I've watched this family go from a family of 3 to a family of 4!  I absolutely love getting to spend time with the Pierce family and I look forward to it every year.  Their kids have so much personality!  It is such a privilege getting to be capture the memories of these growing boys while they are still young.  Thank you Pierce family for trusting me with your memories!!

Leilani+Hilson: Ceremony and Reception

The final installment!  These two were all smiles from start to finish :)  I'm so excited to finish off this blog series with everyone celebrating with them :)  This wedding was one of the happiest weddings I have ever seen!  As friends and family started to show up, the smiles and the laughter just got more and more pronounced :)  These two got to celebrate their love along with all of their guests, and I think that's just about the best part of any wedding!  Enjoy the rest of the photos!!

Selfie before the kiss!

Finally man and wife :)

Towns Family

Meet the Towns Family!  This family of four and I actually know each other from church!  Well, Hannah and I know each other.  This was the first time I had the pleasure of meeting her beautiful family!  I know I say that about every family I photograph, but seriously just look at how cute they are!  We met up at this gorgeous neighborhood in Chandler, and just had some fun!  At one point I had her son "help" me with taking some pictures.  He was a natural ;)  I love letting kids get behind the camera and express some creativity, the result is just fantastic.  And of course, any time I can foster creativity I am one happy camper!  One of these days I will have to share some of the photos my oldest daughter has taken with "her" camera.  Until then, here is the Towns family!

This is the one that Hannah's son took :)  Didn't he do a great job!

Let's play catch(up)!

The last few weeks have been soooo busy!  That is one sure sign of the holidays!  I wanted to share with you some photos from different sessions over the last couple of weeks.  I've been privileged to meet lots of new families, and capture their beautiful faces with my camera.  I hope you enjoy these as much as I do!

My baby turns ONE!

My youngest daughter just turned ONE today!!  I can't believe it!  Munchkin and I went to do a photo shoot last week, and the two of us had so much fun :)  She had her very first cupcake and I took about a MILLION pictures while she was eating it.  I just wanted to share a few of them with you!

I think this last picture is my favorite!  Show me your favorite pics of your kiddos, and don't forget to credit your photographer!  :)

Downing Family

The Downing Family and I got to hang out at the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall last weekend (aka the LOVE statue) and took some photos.  Their family is such a joy to watch together!  These kids love each other SO much!  And mom and dad are just adorbs ;)  Here are a few of my favorites from our session!

Martinez Family

This family is just absolutely ADORABLE!!  We went to spend some time together at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park while we took photos.  We went and looked at the trains, ate some ice cream, and road the train around the park.  It was so much fun!  As well as taking some updated family photos we took some of just little DJ for his first birthday.  Here are a few of my favorites from this session!

A Moment in Durango

Sometimes when you are doing a photo shoot, you turn around and see something totally unexpected and beautiful.  That happened to me while I was shooting Andrew and Ashlynne's wedding in Colorado.  (You will have to wait to see their AMAZING wedding on a later blog post :) Anyways, I turned around to look at the incredible scenery that Le Platt's Pond features, and I saw Mae next to the lake.  So I snapped a few photos.  Let me tell you, I am in LOVE with this moment I was able to capture!  Which of these photos are your favorite?  Leave a comment and let me know!

Miss Native American USA

Recently I was honored and privileged to be a sponsor at the Miss Native American USA pageant, otherwise known as MNAUSA 2014.  Nine beautiful and incredible women competed in this pageant.  They came from California, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and beyond.  They had a long and fun day competing in events such as a formal interview, evening gown, talent, and traditional wear.  I was enthralled as I learned more about these amazing women and their respective cultures.  I heard a legend from the Bishop Paiute tribe, witnessed a women weaving a traditional Navajo blanket in the Crystal pattern indigenous to Crystal, NM.  I watched an incredibly talented woman tell the story of creation through hoop dancing.  There were so many enlightening displays of talent and heritage, I can't even begin to describe them all.  Towards the end of the pageant some local tribe members from Fort McDowell treated us all with a traditional honor song for last years title holder Sarah Ortegon.  I cannot even begin to describe how amazing this experience was for me.  I highly recommend that any of you who are able to attend next year do so.  It is something you will never forget.

One of my favorite photos from the evening was one I took of this year's pageant winner, April Yazza, during the evening gown competition.  She is a beautiful, talented young woman, and I can't wait to see what she accomplishes this year!

Which of these photos is your favorite?

Old Soul Imagery goes to Flagstaff

About a week ago I had a friend of mine (Linsay Huitink) guest blog on my site.  I had the wonderful opportunity of photographing her beautiful family in Flagstaff recently!  We had so much fun getting out of the heat!  We spent some time playing in the woods and taking nice green photos :) Here are some of my favorites from their session.  Let me know which one is your favorite!

Guest Post- Linsay Huitink Photography

My good friend Linsay, of Linsay Huitink Photography, is a local newborn photographer.  I asked her to talk a little bit about her favorite parts of newborn sessions. Here's what Linsay had to say about some recent sessions;

The first couple weeks of life are one of the most amazing times of life to capture with a camera! Babies are best photographed in the first 10 days of their new little lives.  They are still so sleepy, don’t have colic yet, and usually haven’t developed baby acne or cradle cap. Props like hats, baskets and blankets are creative and fun, but sometimes newborns are best photographed in their birthday suit. And you have to capture the details, like their hands and feet :-)

Which one of these photos was your favorite? Also, if you are interested in booking a newborn photography session, please feel free to contact Linsay at linsayhuitinkphotography@gmail.com or 602-633-5823.
